SI 2000/2692 The Personal Pension Schemes (Payments by Employers) Regulations 2000 have been laid and come into force on 6.4.01. These Regs concern the direct payment arrangements to PPSs (ie employers' payments, either on their own account or on behalf of employees out of deductions from earnings) under PSA 93 s.111A (inserted by WRAPA 99 s.9).

On Wednesday 13 September the Revenue published the final version of the new model rules. A point-by-point summary of the main non-trivial changes from the July 2000 consultation draft is available in the Members' section of this website.

The Revenue has completed consultations with the industry, and has published the updated version of IR76 in .pdf format. Full title is: "IR76 (2000) Personal Pension Schemes Guidance Notes (including Stakeholder Pension Schemes)." Parts 11 and 12 on Transfers and SIPPs are still missing. The PSO has published in .pdf format four new Updates (described on the Revenue website as 'newsletters'), Nos 68 - 71. These cover "enhancing the role" of Pensioneer Trustees (PTs) in SSASs (69); new practice where the sponsor of a SSAS is in liquidation (70); equal treatment and easements of the Revenue Limits regime (68); and doing more business by telephone (71).

Six new pensions SIs (2000/2314 - 2319 inclusive) were laid before Parliament on 31 August, dealing with new PP tax regulations. .pdf versions are available from the Revenue's website (in about two weeks, the usual HMSO site will carry them).
